"Datura Magazine is a josei-inspired anthology series featuring a range of speculative and realist stories for an queer adult audience that, like the poisonous datura flower, might have an edge to them."

i really like josei manga; when i was writing this story i read a lot of yuri, my favorites being minami q-ta's short stories. i was also reading through all of shūzō oshimi's comics from the beginning (that i could find, anyway)... so that's the headspace i was in for this comic.
when i was figuring out gender stuff in college, i came out to a friend over the phone. this friend had been out as nonbinary for a couple of years--but when i came out they got upset and said something like "you'll never understand what it's like." at the time this hurt me a lot, but looking back i think we were both just young and insecure and easily threatened by other people's experiences when they weren't like ours. i see that a lot in younger trans people, at least online--this anxiety about other people's experience of gender, if it doesn't align with how you perceive your own experience of gender. so that feeling was the kernel for this comic, two trans guys who were threatened by (and attracted to) each other, with a shared complicated romantic history.

datura magazine is really good! i'm proud to have this comic in with a bunch of other wonderful artists comics.
