2020-primarily gouache, some oil. almost all done on 2.5"x3.75" paper, based on selfies and candid pictures of my friends.
i'm interested in the act of translation from a phone picture to a physical painting; these are sort of careless images, not studied or planned, but in painting them i'm trying to preserve the moment & the feeling they give me when i revisit them in my phone's gallery or my friend's social media pages. i usually give the paintings to the subject when i'm done; the act of painting itself is what i'm invested in more than the finished product.
